“This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies—they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’—the coyotes and the buzzards—Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me.” ~Isaiah 43:16-19
Open a Bible…any Bible….and as you flip through the pages you’ll see it.
God… Always doing something new.
From creation till now God has – and is always – doing something new.
Whether it’s creating the world, delivering His chosen people the Israelites from captivity (more then once), or redeeming all sinners through faith in Christ, God is always doing something new.
Well, new to us at least… He already knows the beginning, the middle, and the end, but that’s a whole other blog post in and of itself…
As we enter into 2021, let’s do what the scripture says. Let’s forget about what happened before (at least the parts that weren’t all that great) and let’s look ahead – be alert – and be on the lookout for God. Expectantly waiting for His something new.
I mean, how can we not. He basically said (paraphrased by Eugene Patterson) that it’s BURSTING OUT, so you’ve got to figure it’s going to be pretty awesome right?
The God who…
makes a path through the sea and buries the enemy is going a New Thing.
The same God is…
making a path, in what looks to us as a wilderness, and is supplying all we need for the journey.
How can we not be on the look out for this? It’s bursting out!
He’s doing this because He loves us. He created us and enjoys our praises when we finally do see it!
So do you see it?
Are you looking for it?
